Where to Eat in Spartanburg
Chef Patricia’s Personal Recommendations for Food Adventures in Our Area
Le Spice – There is an interesting fusion going here of French and Thai influences. Husband Nick and wife Amonrat create beautiful flavors in all their dishes. There are an array of Artisan baked goods to take out and to take advantage of in-house, specifically the Banh Mi, amazingly authentic! The Crepes are perfectly cooked and there are both savory and sweet to choose from. My go to is the Thai Curry bowls, the flavors are very delicate and well balanced. This little treasure now has 2 locations in Spartanburg one on Main Street and one on 29 right next to the Target!
La Taverna – Not many people know about this place because living here in the south many folks think good Italian food comes from the Olive Garden or places like that! We are transplants from Chicago and New York so we know Pizza! It’s by far the best slice as we refer it you will find in the South. The entrees are authentic and huge so maybe order a few things and go “Family Style.”
Monsoon Noodle House – Spartanburg, SC. Set in downtown Spartanburg this order from the counter scenario is great for lunch! Be there early or you will stand in line. Frankly, there are so many things to choose from I can only say that any of the giant Soup Bowls and or the two Noodle dishes I tried, Pad Thai and Spicy Thai Basil were fresh and packed with flavor. Prices are really cheap and the portions are huge.
Mon Amie – Spartanburg, SC. I never thought I would find an Authentic French Luncheonette especially in Spartanburg but I did! Amazing Crepes, both Sweet and Savory made to order right in front of you. Or try the Tuna Nicoise Salad and the Frites, so delicious. I am not a desert person but the craftsmanship and beauty of their deserts do tempt me. Take a few home and continue the experience. Beware, I am not the only person who knows about this place, be there early and note they are closed Monday and Tuesday.
Chipotle – Spartanburg S.C. I know it’s a chain but a really good one and sometimes when I am in a hurry I need a go to place! The food is packed with flavor and made with all Organic ingredients and bonus I can see what is being put on my plate. I build my own Bowl, combining Spicy Tofu with Cilantro Rice, Black Beans and Scratch Made Guacamole for under $10.
